* Brian, Chris, Craig, Julie, Kate, Scott, and Steve met at City Park last night and did some weeding in our flower bed. It looked pretty good despite the neglect we've been showing it.

* Adopt-a-Highway trash pick-up has been re-scheduled for next Wednesday, 8/22 at 6:00 p.m. Please let us know if you can make it or need directions. So far we have Brian, Chris, Craig, Kate, Scott, and Steve with Julie as a maybe. The rain date is the following day, Thursday.

* Julie will submit an application for the DuPont volunteer recognition award with the help of Chris, who will provide her with last year's application.

* The next meeting will be on Thursday, Sept. 6 at the River City Grill, which has replaced Murdoch's, unless anybody has reason to believe that we shouldn't go there.

* The following meeting will be on Thursday, Sept. 20 at our flower bed in City Park for further weeding. We can also combine that with a cookout if there is interest.

* Brian will look into scheduling a date in September, most likely on a weekday evening, for Habitat for Humanity.

* For those you who would like to combine the P'burg homecoming festival with some community service activities and get free parking to boot, here's an option for this weekend:regardless of whether or not you can make it to the meeting, there's an excellent opportunity this weekend to get involved with Homecoming activities AND do something for the community! The YVC in Parkersburg is working the CSX lot - they keep half the money - which will be used to pay several girls' way to the national YVC conference. We need more adults to help supervise over the weekend - especially Saturday and Sunday nights. Anyone who volunteers can park in the lot for free!!!! Please let Debbie Lawson know ASAP (debbielawson1@juno.com)!
