as usual, localmotives had another great meeting last night! first, the fun stuff - all work and no play makes boring people! so we're meeting monday night, 11/1 at 8 pm at Emerson Lanes for bargain night to have some laughs bowling and hanging out w/the locals! be there or be square!

don't forget - this saturday morning (10/23) from 9-noon is Book Sorting in the Activities Room at WVU-P. this is in preparation for the literacy event to be held 11/21 where there will be lots of little kids who need our help stapling their newspaper hats! sean will keep us informed.

Brian reported that the application for the adopt-a-highway section is in progress, and should probably be approved by our next meeting. we've applied for the section of grand central ave between vienna and boaz. all volunteers will have to watch a safety video before participating in our first clean up which will be sheduled yet this fall. that's right, it'll be this fall, so be thinking of friends, family, enemies, whoever you can ask to come out and help with the first clean up!

Donette agreed to check with the United Way people to ask about other big events that might find our manpower useful. This seems to be a major umbrella organization in the area with ties to lots of different groups, so we might come up with some interesting projects from this one!

Bryen will call the Chamber of Commerce to further discuss details of advertising in their mailing to over 1000 people. hopefully we'll come out with a better understanding of how frequent the mailing is, what kind of an ad we could get, who their audience is, and maybe sweet talk ourselves into the ad being for free since we're providing a group that would help all the members of the Chamber by providing a network for new employees in the area, increasing their attractiveness to recruits.
